Celebrating friends……

Celebrating friends……

ImageHigh Tea at Milton park was on the card for this weekend (along with work etc). A very special group of ladies got together on Friday night to stamp and then we went to Milton Park at Bowral for a special celebration of Liz’s ’0′ birthday. I have actually been here before and it is still the most amazing place in the country! It is a lovely country estate with a great history and outstanding service and ambiance. We enjoyed high tea and then strolled through the building and grounds…..all in all, the best way to spend a Saturday……..great company, great champagne and the best tea ever!! We won’t even mention the yummy treats…….if prompted, I might even show you a picture!!!

The card I made for Liz is shown here………using my newest stamp set – Apothecary Art…..

I stuck to some basic, neutral colours and I think I like the end result……I will have to leave you with a picture of our group…..in this very fine dining setting

Mothers day gifts……for school!!

Mothers day gifts……for school!!

A needed to design some mothers day cards for the kids in my sisters class and also for the kids in my boarding school…..I loved the idea of the book marks, and thought to combine the two would be a great way to give a card that later became useful……..so, here using the salebration papers I have designed bookmark cards…..what do you think??

P.S.  I’ve had a request for the tutorial for the corner bookmark…..there are hundreds out there but I usually use splitcoast stampers, they always have fabulous instructions and photos….and here is the link

twitterpated just for you…..

twitterpated just for you…..

I have just finished designing the stuff I will make with the bonnyrigg babes this Friday……..I’m supposed to be enjoying the last few days of my holidays…but my head doesn’t seem to be letting me LOL….ah well…stamping always makes it better!!

This is a bookmark utilising just a 4 inch square to cardstock and decorated using the Twitterpatted DSP from the current mini as well as the bordering on romance stamp set.

We will also make a card….would be great for mothers day and some will use a mothers day stamp if desired, but the rest of us have unfortunately lost our mums…so we can make this to pass onto someone else we care about!!

Cheering up a friend

Cheering up a friend

I have a long term friend that has been quite ill for some time and it is now getting her quite down……so I have made a card that will hopefully cheer her up! This is using those gorgeous salebration papers in the lovely poppy parade that I have hardly used…….and with the in-colours shifting around a bit in the next catalogue I think I will make an effort to enjoy those that will be leaving our catalogues…..I love pear pizzazz and concord crush but have hardly wet my peach parfait and poppy parade pads…….. My friend is a red fan and has plenty of this in her home teamed with vanilla and crumb cake colours – so rich and sumptious!!

I hope you like the card!!

Big shot dies do come in handy…..

Big shot dies do come in handy…..

I have just spent the afternoon making a cute gift that cost me about $2 (less actually) and some scraps of felt and buttons. I have created some matching hairclips, magnetic bookmark and a bracelet for a little girl…….check this gift out!!

I used the island floral die to cut three layers of felt at a time, made 6 sets – 2 for the hairclips, one for bookmark and three for the bracelet…….too cute huh!. I used my cropadile to cut holes into the top of the hair clip – yes….the cropadile did that like melting butter!!! I then sewed the green flower to the clips and around the bracelet. I layered the pink and purple flower as desired and sewed the button through both layers of felt and then just used some craft glue (crystal effects works brilliantly) to stick the top two layers to the green flower underneath….neat huh!! Hope this inspires you to create some gifts for the littlies in your world……this set is off to a very girlie 3 year old!!

Making use of what you have….

Making use of what you have….
Making use of what you have….

It is my newest passion to make a simple gift into something special. It is all the more satisfying to utilise things that are in your stash and especially heart warming when you used up scraps in the process. My sister is off to visit a friend who recently had a gorgeous baby girl…….and she was wondering how to ‘wrap’ her cute gift of two tops and two pairs of pants……and I came up with this……

Who wouldn’t love to receive this? I used a plastic pot that once held an arrangement of flowers (had no hole in the base – always keep the great containers that gifts come in and use them to wrap up your own treasures) and we rolled the clothes into the bottom and created the decorated skewers. This was totally inspired by the work of Ruth Clarke – a very talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. Check out her amazing work here…..I think these decorated skewers are very handy – look great mixed in with a bunch of flowers……or on top of special cupcakes……and the list goes on….. I am sure the recipient will love these…..wait til you see the hair clips I have planned for this afternoon LOL……Will pop back with them when I get a chance

Spiffy gift wrapping…

Spiffy gift wrapping…

One of the things I like to challenge myself with is how to make a simple gift look better by designing my own gift wrapping using my craft supplies…….so with just one child left in Primary school……I had to make some spiffy gift wrapping for her teachers easter gift…….what ‘cha reckon?
