My big girl……..

This is my other project for this Friday night………a lovely school shot of my eldest daughter, Caitlin.
This has been done as a 6 inch page and stamped with Scribble This (see our new mini catalogue on the Stampin’ Up! website……….its only available for 3 months………) in Stazon, on Confetti cream cardstock. It has been coloured with the ink from the ink pad lids, using an aqua painter. The colours are cool caribbean, buckaroo blue and night of navy. I then used some two way glue and the dazzling diamonds to add some ‘bling’…………I really like this too…….she was glad that another of my children got a look in……I explained that the first born always has a bucket load of photos……..she just laughed……………she must be growing up!
Let me know if I can answer any questions………….or help you get hold of any of these products……………
What do you do with those tiny school photos…..??????
me and my lad………

I’m pretty happy with tonights scrapping effort. Friday night is my unwind night, when I make or do something for myself. I made this page with some product I was itchin’ and a scratchin’ to use. This is the lovely brown stripe patterned paper from the recollections paper pack and the rose is from Wild Rose stamped in Cranberry crisp and True thyme……..I’ve stamped it on very vanilla and cut it out. This saves stuffing up paper……..The photo is matted on cranberry and chocholate chip cardstock which has some paper piercing, using the mat pack, around the edge. The words are from everyday flexible phrases and are stamped in cranberry and attached with hodge podge………..I really do like this one………helps that I was thinner, younger and BJ was cuter……LOL!!!!!!!
special card ……..

This was a card I made some time ago for a friend who lost someone very dear to her……….These are always the most difficult to make. This was done by stamping the image from seaside sketches onto vellum using stazon and coloring on the reverse with the markers. The other stamp set is so very, a retired sellabration set from 2006. The stitching is faux , of course, and completed using the white gel pen. The rest is done using the slit punch, hodgepodge and brads from the soft subtles brads set………………
I liked it, hope it gave her some peace………….
Make and Take for this week…..
Images Copyright Stampin’ Up! 1990-2007
This was my make and take for todays workshop at Sue’s house. This was a nice and easy page but it is visually attractive. We stamped the linen background and the fern stamp from Touch of Nature in versamark inkpad. This helps with adding depth to the image. The next step was to add the row of flowers. These were masked and stamped to give the look of a field. Then I stamped two flowers on whisper white cardstockas well as a butterfly. These were coloured using the watercolour crayons and aqua painter and then cut out.We stuck to a bold brights theme, using bold brights for background and colouring. They were then adhered them to the page. The ’smile’ was added from the Wonderful words II set……..a great way to add a title without too much bother. As this is just a 6 inch page, it is a subtle title that doesn’t take over.
The girls at the workshop did a great job and stepped it up a notch by coloring two butterflies the same. The first was stuck flat like mine and the second was just stuck down with glue on the thorax (middle part!! LOL!!!……remember I teach science……) and the wings were left ‘up’ so it looked like they were fluttering around……they did a great job and it was great to see the different colours that people used………
This photo is one of my favourites…….Brendan (now 13!) was just 2 and a half months old ad this was taken during his first ever giggle fit. It was my birthday and we were visiting my mum and dad………..don’t worry I have other photos that will make it to a 12in page that will contain lots of journaling. Six inch pages are great for a quick scrap, but I am a fan of the 12 inch double spread…….LOL……I’ll have to show you some………..
OOohhhh what a night…….
Last night, I held my first stamp club get together. Everyone congregated at my place and had a fun night stampin, scrapping and chatting. Boy we had fun…….we made a glittered Christmas card using two sets from the mini catalogue…….I’ll post an example when I make one that is straight……..stop laughing Kim!!!
I designed this great card, but working yesterday meant that I didn’t get a chance to make my sample until just before everyone arrived. I made it with my eldest daughter looking over my shoulder…….well anyway, it was crooked. I forgot how ‘exact’ some of my stamp club members like to work………..we were versamarking, heat and stick powdering and then glittering and so had to work very, very quickly……….and they were a little crooked (they still looked good to me…..). Anyway, we laughed a lot and I hope everyone learnt something new……..
After that funny episode, we worked on our own projects, some made cards, some scrapped and I coloured some images for more fete cards LOL!!!! We put in our orders and the girls drew the name out of the hat for the person who was to receive the rewards this time around. Kim won! She walked away with a handsome load of goodies and we will reconvene in one month’s time…………I had such fun. These women are a scream………..besides Phil is the best cook. She made a great slice, Leanne spent the evening keeping track of her cardstock, Kerri produced some great cards and Leanne made a great card with bling. Emma and Kelly flicked through some of my inspiration books and I just can’t wait until next month……
In the meantime we have a picture of a tag I made……no stamping here, but lots of stampin’ Up! accessories…..

Stay tuned for next months special…….promises to be rewarding for workshop hostess and the beginning of our mini catalogue frenzy……….limited edition stamps and accessories…….

This is the card and gift voucher holder(Alisa’s great idea………check out her blog, heaps of ideas) that I made for a friends 40th a couple of weeks ago. I really loved this card (sooooo wished I’d made two!!). It was using all SU supplies, except for the prima flowers and bling in the centre. The card was made with two hostess sets. I’ve said before that these are lovely and they are!!! I truly love them and you can see how much I use them and better still they are free…….just book yourself a workshop (or collect orders for more than $300) and BAM! you can have yourself a lovely set like the one that is used in the image or the one that makes up the sentiment.
I coloured the flowers on the cake with SU! marvelous markers…….if you’d like more details on anything in this post or photo, drop me a line……………
More fete ideas……free stamps and free product……….!!:-)

The last lot of cards I showed you that we have made for the fete are shown below (see post down the page) were coloured in using the watercolour caryons….(my favourite). Remember these are this months special ………..spend $50 and you can pick yourself up a set for 25% discount (this applies to all the crayons as well as the watercolour pencils). That is how I bought my newest set (that I intend to use in workshops).
The cards shown above were coloured using the marvelous markers (they are also of the highest quality) and these were picked up with last months specials………well worth taking advantage of the specials. It is the only way to get these high quality products at reduced rates. Stampin’ Up! don’t sell their stock at discounted prices at the end of their lines…………their monthly specials are truly worth keeping an eye on………..
The stamp set you can see that is used for this beautiful wedding dress on each of the cards is our exclusive hostess sets. There are a few ways to get these……..
1. Hold you own in home workshop……(contact me and I will help make that happen, wherever you live. Our ‘family’ is far and wide and I know a ton of great demonstrators. You will also get your catalogue for free).
2. Order $300 or more worth of product and then you will qualify for a hostess set PLUS at least $30 worth of product free…..
3. Hold a catalogue party, where I send you a catalogue (which is free in this case ) and order forms. You collect the orders and we organise payment (cash, cheque, direct deposit or credit card). If the orders are $300 or over, then you, as the hostess, will get to select a hostess set PLUS at least $30 worth of free product.
4. Form a stamp club where 6 people put orders in for at least $50 each month. We currently have one of these going and we get together each month for a crop and to submit our orders…….and each month, someone will get to reap the hostess benefits for themselves. This means a stamp set and $50 free product……….
Well there is plenty of ways to get yourselves a bargain or freebies. Comment and leave your e-mail and I’d be happy to get details to you and help you take advantage of the freebies.
What to put inside a dark card…….????
When making dark cards that you actually want to write inside the card……..it is useful to either put in a sheet of paper that lines the card (like you see in expensive cards you buy in the newsagency) or you can make a tablet to write on using soft coloured or neutral cardstock. I often opt for the tablet. It is nice to stamp (after stamping off most of the colour) a very subtle background that makes it less stark and ties to the theme of the card. I have a couple of examples to show you……
Images copyright Stampin’ Up! 1990-2007
This was a farewell card by joining two cards together (overlapping one panel), giving the people who needed to sign, 5 panels to write on plus one for the card cover. The card was tied with some lovely gingham ribbon. This card was made using a very deep violet (vintage violet) annd would be impossible to write on. If you look at the panels that I have included, they were stamped with the linen background stamp and then had some subtle images stamped on them. This gave the appearance of soft background paper, only better cause I made it
.
This next example is inside a card made using two A4 sheets joined (the card was half and A4 size).
Images Copyright Stampin’ Up! 1990-2007
This was also made using dark cardstock (chocolate chip) , and impossible to write on. The tablets to write on were made with very vanilla cardstock and stamped with french script (stamped off) in basic brown and then some images along the bottom edge that coordinated with the stamps used on the front cover.
Hope the was informative and helps you thik about the colour you use in your cards and how to make them more usable………………stay tuned………….I have lots to show you………….
Primary school fetes
My three youngest children all go to the same primary school. This also happens to be the school where my sister is currently teaching at. When I signed up with Stampin’ Up!, last October, I knew this could be the great opportunity to test the appeal to my community of stampin’ Up! products. We have both spent a bit of time this holidays playing with some stamps and coming up with some samples that might make the school a few bucks…………We are only doing a few of each item and the stuff that doesn’t sell at the fete in November we plan to pass onto the African Aids Foundation to sell as chrissie gifts. We have a whole host of craft ideas……we are doing decorations, fun kids bath bombs……….My sister is very crafty……….LOL!!!!!!!
This is a picture of some cards we are making……some of these cards have actually been coloured by my daughters (who are better are watercolouring than I am…….) . These are the ballet girl image from All mixed up……the rest of the stuff is mixed SU! stuff and stuff that just comes from my stash…….
The ballet dancer in the middle of the bottom row was coloured by Caitlin (aged 9!!!!) using my watercolour crayons and aqua painter (don’t forget these are on sale……..comment and I will send more details if you like…….)………..
3 days to go………
Well it has been a great holiday doing ‘nothing’ . You have to laugh when mothers say that……when do we do nothing……..it really means nothing that we would like to be doing……
Well as some of you know, I teach Agriculture and Science to high school kids………sometimes the animals need a bit of a hand and they don’t know when term ends…..My family (especially my little sister…..:-) ) have been helping some baby goats along during the two week break. We have been bottle feeding these goats every four hours, caring for some yukky eyes and keeping them warm and safe at night. My kids have absolutely loved it…….and now that they arefinally taking their bottles, they have been having a go at feeding them ………here is a photo of my youngest daughter, Maddy with one of the ‘twins’.
This shows that goats really do eat everything……Maddy’s finger and MY BROMELIADS………never mid thay are very, very cute and will be returning to the rest of their ‘family’ monday morning at 8am………that is a good thing………this is all feeling a little bit like having newborns all o v e r again …….LOL!!!
Must scrap these photos…..OK……It is a challenge, I will scrap some goat pictures for you next Friday (maybe…..LOL!!!)
Have fun, and all you NSW people, enjoy your last three days of holidays……….
