Happy Holloween birthday!

My youngest son is off to his very first sleepover birthday party tonight. Sam shares his birthday with halloween! Now he is turning 10 he thinks this is pretty cool. I think Sam’s mum is struggling to make a haunted house. Now, not celebrating halloween myself – I had to dig deep to find some embellishments for a birthday card that followed the theme. This is a lesson in hoarding crap! Both Nicole(my sis) and I have had calendar’s in the past that have had halloween stuff in theme – mine was a scrapbooking/card making one and hers was a sticker a day (yep – she’s a teacher too!). So………having never thrown any papercraft stuff out – I dug incredibly deep to find some appropriate stuff………..

I used a sticker on a nestabilities oval and scalloped matching oval and inked around the edge in pumpkin pie ink. I stamped Happy birthday in the bottom of the card and used some paper from my calendar to finish it off. I made a monogram to tie to the bag and used some ribbons and stuff – I’m sure Sam is not opposed to ribbon (his mum and sister will like it anyway LOL). I had to stamp on the inside to personalise the card and of course the envelope. Basis grey ink was used and some stickers were used to adorn the two packages. Jared thought it was pretty cool when he woke up this morning.

So it just shows you how stamps still go with other stuff and it is handy to hoard!!!!!

Birthday x 2 !!!

Ok, Caitlin is going to yet another birthday party – this time for twins!!! They are both turning 11 I think and I bought my usual gift – Angus and Robertson gift vouchers………….now to present them in an interesting way (THE best thing to do when you are hopeless at buying gifts!!!). I tried using the gift bag I have been making of late.

Came out good huh!! I used up some of the patterned paper that I bought last year for making fete cards. These would also make great fete sellers. Hhhhmmmm next year is our fete and I think I will get my girls right onto this……….

Inside is a matching birthday card in the first pocket and in the back pocket is a piece of cardstock with a tab which acts as a handle to slide it up. This is where I have used those amazing mini glue dots to stick on the gift cards – works a treat!!! They have also been used to stick on all the prima flowers and the scharwoski centres of the flowers. The images used on this card are an old hostess set that I haven’t been able to part with.  I used some crystal effect to highlight just the pink flowers here along with he candle frames. I love having texture on my cards – absolutely essential in my philosophy of a good card.

The one on the right  is the SU! based card, all be it with retired ribbon – but I have highlighted the pink icing on this cake and the candle ‘hearts’ with the crystal effects. I think these will be loved by 11 year olds – heck I know one 39 year old who would be pretty happy to receive either of these LOL!!! One dearest daughter thought they were ‘amazing’. These are really quick projects that really do make a ho hum gift into something really special. What would be great is to create a mini scrapbook of the party to put into this bag once the party is done. That might be my next forray into these bags LOL!!!

The sun is shining here – so I’m off to wash, wash, wash, wash and I have a bit more washing LOL!! My dad said to me as I trundled downstairs with the first lot this morning “You doing something different darl???” …..I hasten to add – with a giant belly laugh!!! Oh well – that’s what happens when 9 people cohabitate!!!

I’m back…….

I’ve been back for a while actually but have had internet problems. I’m also back to work Grrrrrr, BUT it does prove to better , with the sun shining brighter and longer I’m always happier. My moods are certainly affected by the weather and consequently I have started to spring clean my house – scary when I threw out 7 green garbage bags of stuff out of my linen press…….yes very, very true sadly. I just have too much stuff!!!! While on holidays , my eldest daughter attended a birthday celebration for a friend, so I needed to make a card. I have used some retired stuff on this one – but the ideas can certainly be applied using other paper and ribbon.

This is a card for a ‘tom boy’ , LOL!! she is a lovely girl and horses are way like her style, actually her family owns a dairy. The rider was stamped in versamark and pink ink and then heat and stick powder was added with glitter on top to make a very sparkly horse. I really like this so I actually made two at once. I know it will be useful for another occasion. The ribbon and paper come out of the catalogues from last year and the gorgeous hodgepodge is from the current mini catalogue. This really is a great kit and well worth the investment.

I’ve had a very glittery card week , cause I made another , CASED from Carol (see the link to her blog on the right). I just need to find It!!!  great wedding card……back to show you when I find it!!!
