Wallet full of love…..pt2

wallet cardinside walletThis is the other card we my at my workshop this weekend. It is also a bit difficult, but very effective. A great card for the man in your life….it is shaped like a wallet. This is not my idea at all, I actually remember seeing  the very clever,  Leonie make these and I think they were quite popular twelve months ago around Father’s day.

It uses one piece of close to cocoa CS, with 1.5in cut off the length and then cut in half long ways. You will need both pieces, one for the outside and the other for the inside. Both pieces are stamped using the weathered background stamp using close to cocoa ink. I usually fold in half and just ink one half of the piece at a time. The edges are then pierced using the paper piercer & mat pack and the ‘thread’ is drawn in with the fine tip of a choc chip marker. The inside is also stamped with the weathered stamp and about 2mm get trimmed off each short edge so the piece fits nicely inside the cover. The edges are paper pierced and ‘threaded’ using the marker. In four places, I have used the word window punch to make little slots to tuck notes into. On the back of the outside sheet I have stuck two 8cm square pieces of patterned paper (Windsor knot)to form the lining……..Both layers are then adhered using sticky strip or snail and pressed together firmly. Be sure to just apply the adhesive around the perimeter.

The Fathers Day stamp comes from the occasion set and is stamped using close to cocoa ink on creamy caramel cardstock. I have pierced the edge of that and stuck onto the front using dimensionals.

The tab that seals the wallet is made with a strip about 7cm long and about 1.5cm wide, stamped with the weathered stamp, paper pierced etc…..I have also stuck a magnet on the inside of the tab and on the front of the wallet to simulate the press stud on a wallet.

The four little pockets mean that you (or your kids) can write little notes to their father…….very cute. My kids did this for my husband last year…..

All items appearing in bold are available for purchase by contacting me. I can organise a class so you and your friends can make this too. My e-mail is sharon@lvh.com.au

A wallet full of roses…..part 1

Weird title, but I thought I’d show you the first of two cards we made in a workshop yesterday. These cards are a little difficult to try and achieve in a workshop, with stampers of varying ability, but none the less, everyone did a great job and my hostess was happy to be able to make cards she wanted to…..

rose card This card is made using a number of stamp sets. The background is firstly stamped with versamark using En Fracais and then chalked in using close to cocoa and ruby red chalks….you’ll need to look carefully to see the script. The next layer on the background was done with the sanded stamp using basic brown. These were all stamped on the kraft cardstock. The corners have also been punched with the eyelet border punch. Wrapped around this layer is a piece of riding hood red striped grosgrain, with a smaller piece used to make a fake knot. hehehehehe. This was all stuck onto the riding hood red card base.

The roses, buds and leaves were all stamped using the A rose is a rose set using generational stamping with the riding hood red and always artichoke stamp inks. Generational stamping means that the first stamp in each image was inked, then stamped onto scrap and then stamped straight onto the whisper white. This is a type of stamping that isn’t possible with clear stamps – a real plus for rubber stamps, especially of the quality of Stampin’ Up! © stamps. This gives you the added advantage getting a number colours and effects with just one or two ink pads, like I have here. This stamp set is a two step stamp set that actually has a matching second stamp that allows you to get those darker, shadow highlights on the image and care of the stamp-ma-jig,  lining them up perfectly. Even I get the stamp-ma-jig out when using this set. The look is just so very special.

The sentiment comes from the great hostess set – Best yet, that has such great sentiments in such beautiful scripts and all fit so nicely in the designer label punch.{This is a great time to become a hostess with an extra $40 to spend once your sales reach $600…….contact me to grab your date – just 4 weeks to go…}

This card would make the basis for a great class, if you and your friends would like to come to me, or I could come to you, we could learn how to make this card together for a minimal fee per head. Just e-mail me at sharon@lvh.com.au

The other card will need to wait until later, while I head off to feed the hungry hoards otherwise known as my rugrats!! Have a great week…….

Class for July

cardboxcardsThese very cute little cards are a snap to make, as is the gorgeous box. I have been making these as hostess gifts and we also made a box of these at my stamp club gathering last Friday night.

I have decided to offer this as a class during July. So…..if you are interested in whipping one of these up and learning the secrets to this easy peasy gift, then pop me an e-mail and I can let you know the dates these will be running. I run these from my table here at home in Camden on the outskirts of Sydney.

Course Description - You will be using the fresh cuts stamp set , along with the fresh cuts notes to create 4 coordinating cards along with matching stamped envelopes. You will also construct a box, with a magnetic closure that houses the cards or could be used as a gift box. (Colours will vary – at this stage the colours offered in class will be the incolours – baja breeze, riding hood red, kiwi kiss and pink pirouette, with a pink and kraft box)

Cost - $20 including a template for the box (so you can go home and make heaps of them) and all materials to complete one box. Also includes a cup of THE BEST coffee in Camden, made by personal barista AKA ‘my fab sister’, served with a piece of cake!!

Classes will be scheduled on Friday nights or Weekend days, e-mail sharon@lvh.com.au for the list of dates that these will run (there is also a school holiday date as well). The class will take about 2 hours , including the cuppa.

Requirements - adhesive and preferably a scorer and cutter (if not, I can supply these for a few participants).

First in, best dressed. Places are limited, as are the dates I can run this…..looking forward to seeing you all in a class soon.

Here’s the cake that has NO kilojoules…….

book to look cake......This is a cake that I made for a ‘launch’ of sorts for one of my newest members of my team, Lana. It is a BOOK TO LOOK cake. What does that mean? Well, anyone who books a workshop when this gets tabled, gets to take home a piece of my pie and gets all the goodies inside their slice of cake. Many prizes are straight from the catalogue and will be ordered once you have your workshop……..even more exciting when you consider all the great freebies you already get when you host a workshop. This month and next those freebies increase further…..when you reach sales of $600 or more…you get an extra $40 to spend on products from the catalogue…..that gives you way over $100 worth of products for FREE….

Book a workshop with me during June or July and you can have a slice of cake and everyone at your workshop will receive a template to make your own cake slices plus the instructions so you can make gifts such as those below.

So, a workshop with $600 in sales will give you

1. $110 worth of FREE product

2. 1 x level 1 hostess set (EXCLUSIVE for hostess’)

3. A gift box ’slice of cake’ with choccies in it and a voucher for a bonus prize

When that card just won’t leave your head……

……..just make it!!! I’m suffering from a cold at the moment – DH gave it to me…..we are joking that it is the cat flu…..anyway, had to venture out today to do the groceries….GGggggrrrrr BUT I did walk past a crossroads shop. They have obviously just done a reno and their new vinyl window decor inspired me……so I’ve had this bloody card in my head all day. I have three Chemistry assessment tasks to set but I decided to make the card first….think this will have to be the card we make at my workshops in July……..contact me and I’ll come help you and your friends recreate it……sharon@lvh.com.au. This weekend there is a craft show at Darling harbour that I just can’t miss, so doped to the eyeballs with codral I will take my girls in for a little treat. Now, just two days left on my blog candy…..see the posts below……AND don’t forget the great hostess specials this and next month…..

Catching up with some friends….

linda and nessThis is a long weekend in NSW and I spent last evening catching up with some friends….we all have birthdays within a couple of weeks of one another. It was great to just sit back and relax. I made a cute little gift for each using my current fave set , fifth avenue floral and using my new fave colour scheme, basic gray, kiwi kiss and baja breeze. I did throw in some basic black too. The little box……..well don’t forget the blog candy comp available about this cute container below……

The two cards are both embossed, the card base has the images from the set clear embossed onto it . The card on the left has the daisy images clear embossed onto the baja and then watercoloured with baja ink and craft white……The one on the right has the images rocked into versamark (so it only appears some places) and then the colour before adding heat and stick powder (which will just stick where the versamark was) . Once this was melted with the heat gun, I then sprinkled on some dazzling diamonds glitter. The right edge of the white strip has a scalloped kiwi border and a knot tied in basic grey taffeta ribbon which is wrapped around the cardfront. The other ribbon (the black one) is a textured black suede ribbon, part of the ribbon originals. These look very effective together and quite an elegant colour combination if I say so myself LOL..

If you would like to learn some great techniques using this stamp set, drop me a line and I can prolly organise getting together with you and some friends and teach some great embossing techniques using this one stamp set. Drop me a line at

sharon@lvh.com.au

Enjoy the rest of your weekend…
